GCS Model 8 is a dedicated, standalone 24-track DAW that transforms your iPad into a vintage multitrack studio. Meticulously engineered to replicate the physics and sonic characteristics of classic reel-to-reel machines like those from Ampex, 3M, TEAC, and Otari, it brings the organic workflow of analog recording to your mobile setup.

Free Mode vs. Pro:
GCS Model 8 is free to download and try. In Free Mode, you can record, mix, and explore the tape physics engine. To enable project saving, exporting, and snapshots, you can unlock GCS Model 8 Pro via a one-time In-App Purchase. Since this is a ram based DAW, I highly recommend testing out the formats you'd like to use such as tape length and track amounts before purchasing. An iPad with limited ram will be limited in the amount of tracks you can use!
Hardware Requirements & RAM Limits:
To calculate complex analog tape physics in real-time, GCS Model 8 relies entirely on device RAM rather than disk streaming. Because of this, your maximum track count and tape length are strictly limited by your iPad's physical memory.
The app includes a dynamic memory estimator that will prevent you from creating projects that exceed Apple’s strict iOS memory limits:
Standard iPads (3GB - 4GB RAM): Typically limited to 8 tracks for a 10-minute tape, or 16 tracks for a 5-minute tape.
iPad Pro / M-Series (8GB+ RAM): Capable of running the full 24 tracks for 10 to 15-minute tape lengths.
