Have you just seen a flower and want its name? What's that flower? is a field guide to more than 1,500 flowering plants.
Find a plant in three ways.
Search. Type a common name, a Latin name, a family, or a genus. Search is free.
A photo. Take a picture of the plant. A plant in the book opens its page. A plant we have not written yet still gets a name, with a plain confidence and other candidates. One name is free before you sign in. A signed-in account gets five names each month, and a short advertisement can add five more. Naming a photo needs a connection.
The key. Choose the color, where the plant is growing, and the petals. Plants in flower this month come first. Set a region, or use this phone's location, when you want a shorter list. The key is free.
Each plant has a page: names, the flower, the inflorescence, the fruit, the leaf, the stem, the habitat, and where it grows, with a plate and photographs. Uses are included when a source records them. They are not medical advice.
Seen is your notebook. A find keeps the photo, the date, and the place when you allow it. You can also add a plant from a photo already on this phone. Share a confirmed find when you want it reviewed and shown as a public sighting. The notebook on this phone is free.
Book browses the same plants by family, genus, and lists of flowers, including plants of the year where a country keeps that list.
Pages are written in many languages. Where a translation is not ready, the page stays in English and the Latin name remains.
Field Guide is an optional subscription. It adds unlimited names from photos, no advertisements, your Seen photos on every phone signed in to the same account, and an offline copy of the book, the whole book or one region. Search, the key, the book, and Seen on this phone stay free without it.
