FUJI Drum AUv3

A drum machine cut from light. FUJI renders a shader, gives each of its sixteen pads a different band of the same moving image, and turns what that band sees into a drum. The sky is your hats, the horizon your snare, the ground your kick. Change the picture and the whole kit changes with it.

Under the picture is a complete, serious drum machine.

EVERY PAD IS A DRUM SYNTH
• Three ways to read the image: BODY plays it as a wavetable, SCAN plays the pixels as a waveform, SPECTRAL reads it as a spectrogram
• 26 knobs per pad: pitch envelope, sub, snap transient, zero-delay-feedback filter with its own envelope, drive, crush, shape
• Per-pad delay and reverb sends, choke groups, and four sidechain buses so the kick can duck the rest
• Load your own sample onto any pad and shape it with the same controls

THE DICE
• Nine genres: 80s Miami, 90s Acid, Boom Bap, Trap, Jungle, Warehouse, Lo-Fi Tape, Industrial, Ambient
• A style isn't a preset: it sets the range every value is drawn from, so two rolls of 90s Acid are two different kits that both sound like 90s Acid
• It picks the picture, the palette, the tempo and the swing to match
• The pattern dice plays the style's signature beat, varied every roll
• Freeze any pad and it survives every roll
• 91 factory kits to start from, and endless ones from there

THE SEQUENCER
• 64 patterns of up to 64 steps, each with its own length
• Parameter locks, 2/4/8 ratchets, velocity and probability on every step
• Record live from the pads, snapped to the grid
• Switch patterns mid-play and the change lands on the bar

SONG MODE
• Paint the arrangement: rows are patterns, columns are slots, and repeating a pattern is painting it wider
• 64 slots, played on the bar, in time with your DAW or Ableton Link

PLAYED, NOT DIALLED IN
• A Kaoss-style XY pad on the whole mix: filter, stutter, crush, gate, delay, space
• Draw a path on it and the effect walks it in time with the beat
• Fullscreen, with the pattern bank under your other hand
• Master rack: tape, flutter, lo-fi, shape, chorus, delay and reverb
