GapGuard turns any poem or passage into an active recall workout. Paste the text once, choose how much to hide, and train your memory by filling in the missing words — line by line, until you can recite the whole thing by heart.

Add your own texts
Save any poem, monologue, scripture, song lyric, or prose passage. Each text keeps its full body, source, target length, and your notes. Everything lives privately on your device.

Choose how words disappear
Mask presets control exactly how the text is concealed: hide every third word, keep only first letters as hints, cover line endings, blank whole lines, or scatter words at random. Tune the hide strength and number of passes to match how well you already know a piece.

Practice with the recital trainer
Tap Start Practice and the poem reappears with gaps. Type the missing words from memory, or switch to Choose mode and pick from options. GapGuard checks your answers instantly — correct words lock in green, and a live progress bar tracks how much you can recall on your own. Stuck? Reveal shows the answers without inflating your score.

Build excerpts and drills
Break long pieces into excerpts — lines, stanzas, or paragraphs — and stage how each one opens and closes. Combine a text, its excerpts, and a mask preset into a saved drill you can return to and mark as practiced over time.

Make it yours
Switch between Light, Dark, and Auto appearance, choose your span unit, toggle haptics, and keep the interface calm or bold. Share a drill summary through the standard iOS share sheet whenever you want.

Private by design
GapGuard works completely offline. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no ads, and no tracking. Your texts never leave your device, and you can erase everything at any time from Settings.

Privacy

GapGuard collects nothing. All of your texts, excerpts, masks, drills, and progress are stored only on your device using Apple's standard frameworks. The app makes no network requests and contains no analytics or advertising.
